I can play doom 3 up to a point then it just quits. I played half life on it a long time ago and i can't remember how bad it was in choppyness but i remember playing it all the way through without any lag outs or whatever you call em.

I'm in the same boat you are. I've played FEAR very cleanly on my machine but Doom 3 was extremely choppy. I think the lighting effects in the latest Doom engine stress the video card/proc combo much harder than FEAR. My advice is to try the multiplayer demo for a while and see if it's actually fun for you. I started playing BF2 right when it was released and was hooked until the hardcore players got hold of it and I started spending more time dead than playing. At this point I don't even bother playing any more. I don't have endless hours to play the game to get better, and if you don't either you might be better off playing the newer BF 2142 (which, oddly enough, also runs quite nicely on the same computer.)

It's very surprising that you can play F.E.A.R. but not Doom3 because FEAR is the most demanding game on your computer out to date. With that said, Battlefield 2 should work on your computer if F.E.A.R. does, but it sounds like your in need of an upgrade. The best graphics cards; performance/price would be the nVidia Geforce 7100~7600 series. But what you should be focused on more is the memory. These games require at minimum 1 gig to run. So 2 gigs should be the desired amount to run smoothly. Enjoy.

Hard to say without knowing your graphics card really. (Along with other info) I know that just about the lowest nVidia card you can use is the GeForce 5200. I think ATI wise its the 9200 or 9250. I don't know much about F.E.A.R but I don't think Doom 3 would require more then it... You MIGHT be able to run it. But its a little worse then 50/50 chance.

Hey how you doing? Download the demo dude :-) Then try playing the demo and see how it is. If its all choppy then you know it will run. Also in bf2 there are settings where you can put everything on LOW and see if it runs. I'll give you the link to download the demo. http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=7176

Download that demo and try it. If it seems to be just a black screen and you hear only music then chances are you can't run it. But if you can run fear I am betting you should be able to.
