It depends on your perspective. If you are a person of good family and no real threats in your life then swearing is usually common in your vocabulary. If you are a person with more crap in your life than anybody you have ever known it is also common. I think that kids start swearing because they want to seem so cool t their friends and they want to be the one on top. But most people start swearing just because of people they hang out with.

As long as it's in the right context and being said at the right time and place, I see no problem with it.

And I have to disagree with those who say swearing is a sign of a limited vocabulary and/or being uneducated.

I'm an English major and am far from having an unlimited vocabulary and I swear quite often, actually. It's not because I'm "uneducated" but rather that certain swear words can be some of the most expressive words one can use and also it's just because I grew up in an environment where it was okay to swear. People need to realize they're just words.

Swearing is not a good habit to get into. When a child swears it is a sign of disrespect. Although all children do swear without adults around. There is no excuse it is not good. LL.

I was told when I was a kid, and now that I am an adult it makes sense. Swearing is a sign of uneducation. If one can't use the correct vocabulary, it is easy to say the bad words instead. Think about it, take one person (adult) who is educated and listen to them talk and then listen to another (adult) that is not educated and see how immature and unwise they sound, it will make one think...

everyone swears, theres no doubt about it, but there is definately a right time and a right place. You don't want to unimpress the wrong people..some people take cursing and swearing to heart and think very badly of it.

NO. It is disrespectful to the people who have to listen to it, and demeaning to the user. People swear when they have nothing meaningful to say.
