Here are the clues to the amount of cash inside this treasure chest on ebay now, auction started 11/1/06 and ends 11/6/06.
It is currently at 71.00 high bid.
This puzzle has given me quite a headache.....

these are the clues:There will be AT LEAST 30 BILLS in the chest...

There are only TWO DENOMINATIONS of bills...

There will be NO LESS THAN 10 Bills in one of the denominations...

One of the denominations is NOT A $1

NEITHER OF THE DENOMINATIONS is a $10 or $20!

One of the denominations is NOT A $5!

There is NOTHING GREATER than a $100 Bill!

All the bills inside this chest are REAL SPENDABLE US CURRENCY!

BONUS CLUE: There are NO $2 BILLS either!

I'm pretty sure that violates some eBay listing policy, so I wouldn't expect it to last until the end of the auction, BUT...

If they say "'one' of the denominations isn't X" that pretty much means that the others are (a joke fully covered on an episode of Scrubs, just in case you couldn't figure it out for yourself).

So, if there are 30 bills ("at least 30" means 30), only two denominations and "one" isn't a single and "one" isn't a five, I'd say there are probably 29 ones and one five. If they want more than 34 bucks, they're ripping you off.

EDIT: the other responder missed something--it doesn't say there are at least ten bills of EACH denomination, it says there will be no less than ten bills of ONE of the denominations. $34.

Someone will lose money if they bid $71.

One of the denominations is NOT A $1.
So the OTHER denomination CAN be a $1.

One of the denominations is NOT A $5!
So the OTHER denomination CAN be a $5.

There are only TWO DENOMINATIONS of bills.
There are NO $2 BILLS either!
1 and 5 are still viable options.

There will be AT LEAST 30 BILLS in the chest
There will be NO LESS THAN 10 Bills in one of the denominations...

Let's assume the least:
10 bills of $5 & 20 bills of $1...
$50 + $20 = $70.

That's how I see it.

There are probably 29 $1 bills and one $5 bill, this would meet all the conditions and cost the person who is auctioning the item the least.

ok look I can't tell you exaxtly how much is inside but I can tell you what bills are inside.
there are no $10 or $20 or $2
ok one is not a $5 and one is not a $1 so one can be a $5 and one can be a $1.
There could also be $50 and $100.
Assume as worse you have 1's and 5's the least you could have is 70 bucks for the info provided
The best is (assuming 50 and 100) is 2500.
