I don't know. People seem to feel more of a repulsion regarding effeminate men, and to gay men in general. The women's movement was really successful in changing things so that women have a much broader range of behavior and dress that people find acceptable.
But it's not like that for men. Think about it. A lot of times, a woman can wear certain articles of mens clothing and it's considered very sexy.
Men who demonstrate any behavior or dress that is considered feminine really catch a lot of c-rap for it. Oddly enough, it takes real balls to be a drag queen.

While society is changing, the change is still a bit slow in some areas. It still holds on to the macho male, head of family, breadwinner, makes all the decisions thing. Then again, it depends on where ur from. Different areas, different ways of seeing things. But the US is still predominantly religious who gets their thoughs and opinions (that really aren't) from el bibBle, so while women are getting away with alot (and thats a good thing), in some areas, men aren't.
but like i said, change is slow.

Society favors "masculine" traits. IN general. They're the desirable traits that get you ahead in life. Of COURSE women are going to want to leave subservient roles and stop being as passive and demure. But it boggles people's heads that anyone born male would want to give up the concepts of them being, essentially, superior in this society.

No one pressures me to do anything I do what I want as long as I do not hurt others. My Dad always told me "If someone doesn't like you for who you are screw them!"
