Pretty much any vegetable or fruit that can become soft after blanching is safe for your fish. My guys like zucchini slices, cucumber slices, and romaine lettuce, in particular.

Since I have a larger tank, every month they'll get a couple of orange slices - they float nicely at the top of the tank, and all of 'em will swim up and pick at it (guppies seem to enjoy it more than other fish). You can also blanch a slice of apple (remove the skin) and put that in, as well.

And don't forget peas - never use canned peas, as they contain too much salt. Always use frozen peas, boil them, and take the shell off - most fish cannot digest the shell. Peas work awesomely for constipation - the fish will poop probably within an hour of eating them.

Always remove anything you put in your tank within a couple of hours, as untended "people food" seems to grow fungus quite quickly. It can also foul up the water.

Pretty much anything that you or I would eat. Don't give too many fruits though, too much sugar but it can be given as a treat every once in awhile. Things like tomatoes are acidic so they would also be given as a treat only. Cucumbers, carrots, peas, romain lettuce, squash, zucchini and things like that can be given all the time but you also need to make sure they eat their normal fish food so they get the other nutrients that they need. Some fish don't like some things, just like we don't, so only put in a little at first to make sure they will eat it all.

Zuchinni, Peas and Romaine lettuce are popular. I read an article once that said fish love watermelon though I have never personally tried that one.

Most lettuces are good as are most types of squash (cut them into thin round slices). I had checked at the local pet store when I noticed they had veggies and lettuces floating in several tanks. I tried the lettuce with my fish and they love it!
