With all due respect for Serenity, she didn't answer the question and only told you to ignore everyone else. It is very simple, I looked up your board, found the specs:http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=13&l3=0&model=411&modelmenu=1
and found that it supports SATA. Now it only supports the original SATA, but since SATA2 hard drives are backwards compatible with original SATA, this board will take an SATA2 hard drive.

Listen, please take just a bit of advice, it is very well intended. Don't just assume all information recieved here is good information. Especially when it regards a computer system. These are usually very well intentioned folks but mistakes can be made when offering advice and then the system the advice was put to is what suffers.

You can check your documentation for what sort of hardware your particular desktop can handle. If you do not have any hard documentation, such as a handbook outside of the computer as often manufactueres don't give any paper material, but place the users guide ON the system, then look on your desktop and look for a users guilde there. Read through it for the information you are seeking. If you still can't find it you can check with the manufacturer directly. There should be a website you can look at, but by far the easiest method would be calling them. Now, if your computer is no longer under warranty, they will probably not even talk with you after finding out you don't have a warranty any more. But you can still try.

Also, depending on your manufacturer, you may be able to access the technical department via a chat line at their website in the help section or technical assistance section depending on what they call it. They may just give you the information. I know that HP has such a method of helping users of their products as I have had several HP computers and had much luck with the chat line technical assistance. I also have had several Dell computers and they are the worst for not providing proper user guides or in giving technical help after the warranty expires, even if by one day, and sometimes have found them not willing to even honor an extended warranty, which I always buy when purchasing a new system. I always go for the three year extended as that is the usual leangth I keep a workstation.

Good luck and have a great day.
