It is possible to make a pamphlet using Microsoft Word but the hardest part is laying out the pages so that the correct ones will show when you fold the pages to form the booklet.

Click on the File menu and choose Page SetUp
Set the page layout to Landscape
In the Margins tab click on 2 pages per sheet.

You type your last booklet page as the first document page and the first booklet page as the second document page. e.g. Page 8 and page 1
Then you will type page 2 and page 7

These pages will be printed back to back

If the pages on your printer are fed from the front just replace the page as it came out of the printer (don't turn it) to print the next pages.
If your pages are fed into the printer from the top, take hold of the end of the page nearest you and feed the other end back into the printer.

See the pagination layout of an 8 page booklet at the site below.

If your booklet has more or less pages it is a good idea to make up a mock booklet and number the pages so that you can tell which pages are printed together.

If you don't have publisher, just do your word page in columns so that when you fold it, they'll show up on the correct side. Try tables with a border that has a width of zero or change the border color to white.
