He is showing you he isn't playing a child game. He will ask you out at the right time, not just asking you out once someone puts him on the spot. He was smart, and it shows a lot. If you broke up you would backfire at him saying you didn't even want to go out with me my friend had to ask you.

Oh he is either shy, or has a girlfriend already and has to break up first LOL. Maybe his parents won't let him go out with someone yet at his age? Maybe he wants to work up to the moment or wants to choose between you and another person.

Means he probly has a girlfriend or he's waiting for the right moment to ask you out. Be patient but don't wait for this one guy forever there are plenty more guys out there.
