what can go wrng with mixture of e-85 and unleaded fuel in my non flex fueled suv?

i had a 1/2 tank unleaded gas and my son put in 1/2 e-85 gas on accident a week ago and it cut out alot all week and then made aloud noise and diedand will not turn over at all, can any one tell me what could have happened ? we also kept ading unleaded each day to try and dilute it down>

You may have fried it, dude! Detonation and ping. They do real bad damage to valves and pistons. Dit the motor sound like someone shaking a paint can full of rocks when you drove it? If you did not have the noise, you may be in luck. You may have just ruined the plugs, which cheaper than an engine. (You did not mention the year, so I don't know if you have an anti-knock sensor.)

Were you watching the temp guage, if you have one? Did the overheat idiot light come on if you don't? Did the motor ever overheat at any point? Was the loud noise a backfire, or did it come from the engine compartment?

Lots of variables in this one. I'd pull a plug and check the tip of the electrode. They could just be damaged or dirty. If you overheated, then don't bother. You cooked it.

probably just that your car can't run on that type of fuel. drain out all the gas, and it should be fine. don't keep adding fuel though, becase the fuel that dosen't work will still be there.
