Here's what I heard "BLAH,blah, blah. I do not care what comes out of my mouth as long as I can stick my tongue out at Bush and the Republican Party, oh yea and our brave troupes risking their lives and the few remaining brain cells they still have because if they were smart lik me they would be back here in the U.S throwing their medals over the fence at the White House, calling their fellow soldiers murderers and being aganist ,then for ,then aganist ...well everything."

Kerry, like all of the other democrats and liberals, was in such a hurry to to criticize the President and his policies that he spoke long before he thought about what he said. I guess the thing that gets away with me the most, is after having said such a moronic thing, he then comes out absolutely defiant, stating, "I make no apology to anyone for my criticisms of the President, his failed policies or his team." The man never even mentioned the President, his policies, or his team while making that comment. He aimed that comment right at the military out right. For this reason, I truly believe he was speaking from the abundance of his heart and not cracking a botched joke as he has tried to claim.

In the end, this will be a bunch of flap that will not hurt the democrats in anyway. For some reason, people tend to give them a pass for saying cold hearted and inconsiderate things like this.

Senator Kerry, just a little advice for you. It is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I think Kerry is an elitist who has always had contempt for the military. He was even ashamed of his own service, and testified to that fact to congress. He has disdain for the military and everything it does, and so feels anyone in it, must be there because they were too uneducated to do anything else. He didn't mis-speak, or botch a joke. He simply was being himself and speaking his mind.

I'll admit that I'm conservative when it comes to politics, but I really believe what I just said about Kerry. His explanation saying it was a joke, just doesn't make sense. His apology was very weak as well. He pretty much said he was sorry people misinterpreted what he said and that they were offended. He's not sorry for what he said at all, just that people were offended by it and it cost him politically.

As hard as I try to give this guy the benefit of a doubt - his recent diatribe seems to just be a continuation of the lies and rhetoric he spewed out during the Congressional hearings in 1967.

It's difficult to accept that, if in fact, his "joke" was just a slip of the tongue, he didn't correct it immediately - but only after the back lash started.

I guess I just can't be impartial, because while he was bashing the troops in Washington with his lies, I was in Viet Nam.

It was truth stated in an inept way that allowed political exploitation by the Dumbya Coup. How many of the young adult children of the folks who attend Repuke $15000 fundraiser dinners are toting an M-16 in the Dictator Dumbya Big Lie Iraqi Crusade? There is class divergence here, with one exception at least being John Kerry himself. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

I think he screwed up. I'm not sure of the origin of his remark - what his point really was, but I'll tell you this:

he made it sound as if those who don't study/get an education are too dumb to do anything else except join some national defense program (Army, Navy, etc) - or at least support such a "dumb" effort.

I think it's easy for people who are educated to make a big deal and talk down to the people who, if are not educated, most likely, did not have an opportunity to educate themselves. I mean, I don't know anyone who doesn't want to educate and better themselves - I only know people who cannot afford the time or money to do it!

But all this talking down is typical of Democrats.

Democrats believe people are too stupid to make decisions for themselves, that is why they like lots of people to make decisions for them and lots of tax dollars for social welfare programs.

Republicans believe that people can make their own decisions, and if it's bad, well, too bad, you've got to live with the consequences and deal with it.

So, it's not that unnatural that he said what he said.

Although, I also think people are making WAY to much out of his slip-up. People say stupid things all the time. Especially most politicians - who are typically out of touch with reality since they mostly come from well to do families, straight to college, grad school, law firms and then to political seats... does this sound like most of your neighbors? Because they certainly are not mine... so how can any of these jokers represent us?!

If you (you being the public and future public servants) aren't educated then you are doomed to repeat the mistakes of this administration - if you can't understand the issues then you (future leaders of America) will continue to make mistakes in office - This was and can only be interpreted as it was meant - a lame insult directed at a lame president - John Kerry did NOT say only dumb people join the military - MY GOD PEOPLE HOW LEAD BY REPUBLICAN MEDIA ARE YOU IF YOU CANNOT GRASP THE SIMPLE TRUTH OF THE MATTER!!!???

I took them how he meant them, it was a joke against the president. He was not saying anything against the troops.

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have." - John Kerry

Isn't Kerry's statement the same as...
We're STAYING THE COURSE...
(Recorded over 30 times in video clips)

What says Bush...
We never said we're staying the course...
(Flip Flop)

Did you know that it was Papa Bush who
lst came out with this famous
Stay the course catch all phrase?

So isn't "staying the course" being for it
before being against it?

It's very simple: he was attempting to insult Bush. He botched it. So what Bush botches every single speech he has ever made. It was the Republican party and The Republican News Network (fox) that made a big deal of it and politicized it. Perhaps it is them that owe the military an apology. We all know that won't happen as apologizing for their lies is not their strong point.
