Tell him you did your best in English, it counted as 40% of your term grade, and you'll continue to try your best. If he screams and yells at ya, it won't be as bad as it will be if he "hears it through the grapevine." Parents are usually more understanding than you think...give him a chance.

Uhhhh.....thats very tough. I recently got a bad grade in math and I sat down with my dad and explained the truth to him......(how i tried my best ect) But I guess it all depends on what type of father you have. So the best thing I think you should do is find out when he is in a good or bad mood, when he is ain a good mood, sit him down and talk to him about your grade. Other than that i really dont know, you should wait for more people to answer.

Have your mom tell hem when your out of the house, and try to do well so you can get good grades on your report card. Don't worry, I have a mom like that, and I got an F on my French test! (Stupid Teacher!) I just had my dad tell her, things went better that way!

Maybe you could tell him with your mom in the room, too for support. It might go better if he were prepared in advance before you get your final grades. I'd rather just get it over with myself anyway. That way I wouldn't have to keep worrying about it all the time. Besides, a C+ isn't bad and you still have 60% of other grades to help bring it up........

Tell him, with sitting down. Tell him that you don't want him screaming at you and you just want him to listen. Your dad's negative verbal abuse is probably harming you at school. Tell your mom this. My dad was in the marines and would scream and yell and I was so distraught I wouldn't study or do my homework I was so depressed. Tell him screaming hurts your feelings and that you wish he could talk to you normally without raising his voice.

it will be fine. if you think about it, im sure you have gotten bad grades on other things and you were fearful of your dad... well eventually it was forgotten and you moved on. my dad used to be just like that. we were scared to even tell him, so we waited until he found out on his own. well, one day I decided to tel him first, befoere he got the report card. he was fine with it and willing to talk things over. he has gotten a lot better about getting angry at things like that... if you tried your best, then he shouldnt take it too seriously... just be sure your mom is ready to back you up on your effort, if needbe. maybe even try talking to your teacher to ask for extra credit or a way to improve your grade.

i know what you're saying. sometimes i get scared to tell my mom what i got on grades(when they're not as good as expected). just tell him that you've tried your best. [atleast it's a cPLUS) thats almost a B. now, imagine how he would react if you got a D or and F. tell him that you promise that you will try harder next time. but trust me, i know how you feel...cause one time, i got a D in spanish and algebra; and i NEVER told my mom that(and that wasn't very wise of me to do). but you should be open to him. you can't just do what i did cause thats not good.

Gee your dad sounds like a man who is hard to please. There you are trying your best and that is not, apparently enough for him. My dad was the same and he said later on that he only pushed me so that I could have the things he didn't have. No consolation when he is doing his nut though!
Tell your mum and get her to referee or perhaps she might tell him for you. Don't be disheartened though - you sound like a good kid to me. He should be proud.
