No good doctor will give you a hyterectomy without a medical reason.
The uterus is important, and women who undergo hysterectomies are at risk for certain types of cancer, heart disease and bone loss, also weight gain.
You'd also be thrown in to menopause (nightsweats, hot flashes, vomitting) at 34.... You'd also have to take hormone replacements which are no longer considered safe, but neccessary. Your skin may turn dry and leathery.
I have endometriosis and despite 5 surgeries, infertility, chronic pain, 10 day long periods every two weeks....I'd never do it unless it was the lesser of two evils.
I've also been put into menopause 5x.......I advise avoiding that until you have to.
My son was a first try baby, my daughter took 2 years! We had finally given up and were 1 week away from another surgery when I discovered I was pregnant!
Just give up if you want to...get rid of that damn basal chart (hated that thing)......and tell yourself it won't happen. If it doesn't you're no worse off, if it does......
I understand your frustration and pain...it is awful...I began to hate all pregnant women.
Have you been diagnosed with anything from the fertilty doctor?

That's serious surgery! I can't answer your question directly but let me share this... No part of your organs can be removed without affecting you in other ways, potentially.
My grandmother was forced to have one because the doctors felt her abdominal muscles were not holding everything in the right place, and it would help crowding of other systems. I can tell you that physically and mentally she changed the very next day home. It totally threw off the balance of her body, be it hormones or whatever. I’m not saying this happens every time but for her it was worst case. She had been fine before, but within a year she developed Alzheimer’s along with osteoporosis. It seems her body was already just holding its own, and the hysterectomy pushed it over the edge.
Even aside from this, I would never willingly have any surgery that my health didn't otherwise depend on. If you don't feel like you should have to go through periods when you may not be able to conceive.... consider other options. You can get on birth control now that completely hibernates menstruation.
I can't tell from what little you've said but if you do want to conceive, have you had professional advice and treatment? In the end you will need to start up this path if you cannot be convinced not to remove your equipment...

Why would you consider a hysterectomy b/c you have trouble concieving? A hysterectomy totally screws up your hormone levels, instead of a gradual flow towards menapause your body is instantly thrown into the thick of it. It's not pleasant. I would avoid a hysterectomy at all cost.

Why are you going to give up?????? Wont you feel bad later on knowing that you might have had a chance. I know that i would never ever ever give up. Even after 13 years. I'll keep trying until i get it. Have you tried IUI or IVF???? before getting a hysterectomy try one.

I'd call it unnecessary surgery, unless there are other indications (fibroids, excessive bleeding, etc.) which indicate that it should be done. Surgery has inherent risks, even for something simple, so I'd say don't do it. Granted, not having gotten pregnant so far, it appears likely that you won't, but so what? If it happens, it happens, and if it doesn't, you are no worse off than you are now.

I doubt they would give you a hysterectomy with no medical reason. Why such a drastic procedure, may I ask?
If you want to prevent pregnancy, you could always get an IUD or get your tubes tied.
Good luck to you.

I suggest just stop trying. If you don't want a baby - no need to "try", and if you wouldn't mind a baby - no need to prevent it. It seems that when people give up is when it happens. I'm sorry to hear of your struggles in getting pregnant - I'm sure that is very frustrating. Best wishes to you in the future :)
