Your mom is just looking out for your best interest. If you want to go do your own shopping then I would at least take your mom with you to the mall show her some of the things you wish to buy and see if she approves of them. After all it is her money that is paying for this. I would not allow my boys to go to the mall with their friends without me being there where I could keep an eye on them. It is not safe for children to be in a mall without a parent. That may be her concern, not you getting something she doesn't like. Kids today do need to have some say so in what they wear especially young teenagers but I think it is more of a safety issue than not allowing you to buy whatever you want.

Whose money are you spending? If you have earned your own money (not allowance) you have more of a case to argue that you should have the freedom to buy things you want. If you are spending your parents' money, you are stuck with their rules. Perhaps you could get some advertisements from newspapers or magazines and show your mom the kinds of clothes you are interested in purchasing. Ask her what kinds of concerns she has about the things you might purchase on your own: style, price, whatever. Ask if you can be trusted to make a purchase within a certain dollar range, with the caveat that you will show her what you have purchased before you wear it and that you will return it if she doesn't approve. Basically, you are negotiating for a bit more freedom, but it may take some time to sell your mom on the idea, so don't get discouraged or full of attitude. In fact, being more helpful and cooperative is a way of showing your mom how mature you are. Be patient, because it's hard for parents to accept that their kids are growing up and want more independence.

If you promise to return anything you buy that she doesn't approve of she might change her mind. The trick is that you have to be willing to return the items. If you give her trouble about returning an item that she disapproves of, she may not let you go to the mall with your friends again.

talk to your mom, find out what she if afraid you might buy. Discuss your families values as far as clothes go and then see if she'll let you take a test run at it. You bring home what you have purchased, see if it meets with her approval and then maybe she'll start to trust you more. Always show your mom what you buy once you get more shopping privileges it will help her see you are following the rules, and let her feel included.

okay ask your mom if you can go and spend a little amount of money and show her what you get and she doesn't like it then you and her can take it back together and pick something you both can agree on. Good luck ! sometimes it take a lot to get someone to trust you and your choices.

When you earn your own money, you can buy your own stuff. A compromise would be that you only buy items that can be returned.

I say earn some money through chores, then tell her that all the things you buy, you'll show her the receipts, in case it's not approved, she can return it. There, solved!
