Depending where in Canada, some accept US stamps. Other places accept Canadian stamps or IRCs (International Reply Coupons.) (I go through the same deal when sending submissions to markets in Canada. It's 50/50.) Now the USPS offer its Click-N-Ship Program, which allows customers to print domestic and international shipping labels with postage, buy insurance, and pay for postage by credit card. Go to usps.com for a one-time software download, to check system requirements, and to register for an account. (How is this a career question?)

In my experience letter mail from Canada to the US can take anywhere from 7 to 21 days, and it is the same going the other way.

They will send it to the Detroit-Windsor border. There it will stay for a day or two to pass customs, from there it is placed in the hands of the USPS.
