First of all, "weed" has been misclassified as a narcotic. Look this up if you don't believe me, but a "narcotic" substance is a substance that brings about a state of "narcosis". Narcosis means DEATH. How many people do you know that have OD'd on weed? Oh!!! Wait a second!!!! There aren't any..NONE!!
The THC in marijuana does have an effect on the way the synapses in your brain interact with one another...That's what makes you feel "high". It takes about 3 days of not smoking it to purge your brain of the THC. It causes NO PERMANENT DAMAGE as most people would have you believe...You can research EVERYTHING HERE FOR YOURSELF. DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR ANY OF IT!!! Look this up, too....Those synapses I just mentioned have tiny receptors on them that are there for one thing and one thing only...To receive THC..that's right, your brain is a natural, biological receptor for THC....
I can even go so far as to say that we're SUPPOSED to smoke pot and this is re-enforced by the Holy BIBLE....Genesis 1:12...."And the earth brought forth grass and the herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit whos seed was in itself, after his kind: AND GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD.".....So that in effect WE have placed OUR OWN judgement above that of GOD....and made pot illegal.
Now I don't know about you, but something just doesn't sit quite right with that, ya know what i mean?
As far as stoping you from moving ahead goes...Hell no it won't...You might, but pot won't...It'll just be there waiting when you're ready to unwind after a hard day of doing whatever it is that you choose to do with your life.
And as far as being a "gateway drug"....Total bs. The primary gateway drugs in America are legal and can be purchased at any 7-11.
The main reason the Gov. wants to keep it illegal is because it alters the way a person thinks....and when that happens, they come up with new ideas and sometimes see things for what they really are.....

Cripes, it sure as hell didn't hold ANY of these guys back, now did it?!?!?!

As long as you don't let it rule your life and occupy all of your time, you can get away with smoking a little once in a while, but if you plan on getting anywhere with a career of any type, with all of the drug testing these days, it will make it real hard to get a job anywhere. Stay straight. You will learn more in school and you will get furthur in life. Save the weed smoking until you are retired. it won't matter then.
