I am not overweight, but I really could lose 10-15 lbs and be more fit. My husband and I really want a baby and I can't decide if I should lose the 10-15 lbs first and then try to get pregnant or get pregnant now and not worry about my weight.

Is it a good idea to not lose the 10 lbs because I could lose it if I get morning sickness? I wanted to lose the weight because I don't feel confident with my body since gaining 15 lbs since last year. I was worried it may affect my pregnancy.

I really want to get pregnant, but I don't want to be extremely overweight while pregnant.

Whether you choose to lose the weight or not beforehand, if you are conscious of it now, you definately will be when you are pregnant if you are anything like me. Why dont you start doing whatever it is you would do now to lose weight and try to get pregnant at the same time and just go with whatever happens. When you fall pregnant there is no reason for you to stack on extra weight that you dont need apart from whatever you are going to put on naturally with the baby. Just eat healthy and make sure you have a big bowl of fruit handy so on those days you get those feelings that you are starving, shove fruit in your mouth. As well as being really good for you, you will find that the yummy smell of the fruit bowl will be comforting as your sense of smell heightens by a trillion (lol), and everything stinks.

I was exercising flatout when i fell pregnant and i was 6 weeks before i even realised, I have had morning sickness really bad since, still have at 15 weeks, but i find walking helps, fresh air! I was paranoid about the whole weight gaining thing also and i have been walking, using an elliptical crosstrainer and weightlifting. I did some research first as to whether you should exercise and which exercises i should and shouldnt do beforehand, you will find that most pregnancy websites will tell you its fine to exercise as long as you follow certain guidelines. ie: Dont let your heartrate go above 140 bpm. The fitter you are during pregnancy, the easier and quicker the labour can be and the easier you cope after birth. Im not saying that what i do is for everyone but just thought id share. Go to google and do a search for "exercise and pregnancy" and see what you find. Do the research and see what works for you and makes you feel comfortable. Remember, if it doesnt feel right dont do it!
You will get all sorts of opinions on what you should and shouldnt do when you are pregnant, mainly from pregnant women or women who have been pregnant. I say go for it, get as fit as you can now, and go with whatever happens after that. Good luck!

Well you can of course lose the weight first but why bother. After the baby you will most likely need to lose some and could do it all at once. Most of us have a few (or more) extra pounds after the child is born. 15 pounds should not affect your pregnancy at all. You can still try to lose weight while you try to get pregnant as sometimes it takes a while. Good luck hope you have your little one soon.

If your planning on getting pregnant, the last thing you need to do is focus on weight. You don't know how much you'll gain when you get pregnant. If you want to lose weight, don't do it in the hopes that you won't gain alot of pregnancy weight. I've seen the thinnest women gain almost 200 lbs in pregnancy. I've also seen larger women not gain much at all. If you get so obsessed on your weight, you'll stress yourself out and possibly hinder getting pregnant. The best thing to do before getting pregnant is to take prenatal vitamins, eat healthy, and get some form of exercise a few times a week. Who knows, the weight may come off effortlessly. Hang in there and good luck!

I dont think ten pounds will make a whole lot of difference. But honey if you are not confident with your body now, how are you going to handle a pregnant body. It is extremely unsafe to diet and purposely try to loose weight during pregnancy. It's really just up to you, how long would it take to loose ten pounds? How much might you gain in pregnancy, even super models gain 50 pounds when they are pregnant. Some people loose the weight really fast after the baby is born, some don't.

It might not "help" you to get pregnant, but if you're carrying around an extra 10-15 lbs, you won't be losing it while you're pregnant... You might lose 5 lbs from morning sickness, but don't count it. Also, some women think that the baby will use up some of your "reserve" fat... that doesn't work! LOL!!

If you can lose it, go for it. if not,... 10 lbs isn't bad.

Have fun ttc!!

You absolutely shouldnt concern yourself with your weight during your pregnancy. It is not the time to diet. As for before you get pregnant. Pounds dont matter. Its good for you and the baby to be fit before during and after your pregnanacy. If you are at a healthy state when you get pregnant, and maintain light excercise while preganant, you will find the baby weight comes off much easier after delivery.
Also, pregnancy isnt a sure thing. It might be more than a month before you conceive. Diet and excercise and try all the same. If you turn up pregnant, congratulations. Continue walking but eat healthy and when you are hungry.

You can actually do both. Start working on the weight loss now. Sometimes it can take a while to get pregnant, and it may be that you put off the weight loss, but you didn't get pregnant that month anyway. Even if you were to lose 10 pounds and then get pregnant, your baby would be fine.

Haha if you dont want to be big, then getting pregnant is a silly idea. Unless you are well overweight there is no need to lose weight before the baby, if you want to do it for you, ou have to be careful, because dieting and babies arent a great idea

if you can loose weight pretty easily, then I would wait til after you have your baby....I never had morning sickness with my pregnancies, so dont alway count on that to loose weight...just watch what you eat and stay active during yoru pregnancy, that will help keep unwanted weight off while still being healthy for your baby. then after wards, you can really work on taking off the 10 lbs you want to get rid of!

Good luck
