Look in the newspaper for jobs to be a nanny. It's under Personal Care or Education. As for babysitting, ask your neighbors and friends in your neighborhood to give you a job and references to other people. They spread the word. If you have a godchild, or nieces and nephews, ask your sisters/brothers and in-laws. They trust you.

In fact there should not have been any need for you to approach Yahoo answers for that. Babysitters and Nannies are in great demand. The other answerers have provided you with proper guidance for the purpose. I would add a word of caution. As a babysitter myself I have found that we are always looked down with suspicion what with occasionally reported cases of ransacking the house or kidnapping the baby. Therefor unless you have excellent credentials you may not get a good job. Better register yourself with the Police and obtain a character certificate from them and keep it handy. The paucity of good babysitters is so acute that despite police requests for prechecking a new apoinee for the job many employers skip it and not infrequently repent for this indiscretion. If you arearmed with a character certificate you stand a better chance of getting a good job.

Apart from major job websites like Monster, Hotjobs, Craigslist where you could apply and upload your resume online, I came across some aggregators like Simply Hired and Indeed and a couple job referral services. Check this site out for more information http://tinyurl.com/emdyn
