what has the number 42 got to do with tv and films, i have noticed this in quite a few films, does anyone know the reason they choose this number over others?

its one of the numbers in lost, its on the boat in saving private ryan (i think its that film) its mulders door number in x-files, theyres a few more but i can't quite remember them just now, plus the all famous one - hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

For the Kumars at Number 42, its an homage to Douglas Adams' Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. i.e. 42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe and Everything.
Which other 42 references do you mean ?

it's the answer to life!! Douglas Adams was an incredibly smart man and maybe other people in the TV industry have realised that maybe he was right about the number 42. All we have 2 do now, is work out what the question was!! But Douglas Adams gave us that as well!! "How many roads must a man walk down?"

and no we can't tell you the question because it would cause the universe to instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre....though some people think this may already have happened...
