"Clinton also stated that, while other countries also had weapons of mass destruction, Hussein is in a different category because he has used such weapons against his own people and against his neighbors."

That says it all, doesn't it?

No, but he sure was looking for a good excuse to take Iraq. It's not that he lied directly, he just overstated the value of the information he had.

And to those of you that think WMD's were found...BS, if anything big had been found, there would be no scandal about it today...they did find a few old, rusty, dangerous to handle, and useless artillery shells from the 1980's, but if you claim they count, you are an extremist partisan. AND NO, IF THE NEWS OF WMD'S WAS NOT BURIED ON PAGE 7...DON'T BE REDICULOUS...IF THEY HAD BEEN FOUND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE THING.

There was a question, just before the invasion 2003 that he might have them, but the Administration was quick to use force....too quick because he didn't actually have them...if Bush had waited and used diplomacy, the outcome would have been different and many lives would not have been lost....and we wouldn't be in the pickle we are now

Of course he did. The evidence that Clinton and the Democrats used to declare Saddam in violation of the UN resolutions to dispose of the WMD he'd documented *magically* turned into lies on January 26, 2001.

So despite the fact that Bush received intelligence from the US intelligence agencies, the UN and other world intelligence agencies (France, Britain, Russia, etc) that Saddam had WMD, it MUST be that Bush was lying!

Even today, I shake my head at the Bush-haters who don't let facts, proof or evidence stand in the way of their beliefs! Good grief!

Of course not. The whole world thought he had WMDs. The UN security council passed something like 14 resolutions calling on Saddam to disarm of his WMDs or if he already had, to provide documentation of how he disposed of them. To say Bush made it up is totally false and ludicrous. It's a shame that those who don't like Bush attack him with false accusations and propganda rather than valid criticisms. Unfortunately that's politics.

It's the people who accuse him of making it up, that are making something up. Many of them thought Saddam had WMD and publicly stated so. Since vast stockpiles weren't found, and the war isn't going as well as we had hoped all of a sudden they're piling on, and acting like they knew better all along.

Yes. He looked up at the head of the CIA and asked "is this all you've got". He knew there was not enough evidence to go to war. Read Richard Clark's book . He is the only person on either side of the issue that is believable

No he did not.

I would suggest reading General Georges Sada's book "Saddam's Secrets: How an Iraqi General Defied & Survived Saddam Hussein". General Sada was there and knew what was going on with Sadam. It's all in the book. Check your library if you can't buy it.

And remember.......the reason you have the ability to ask questions like this, and to ask questions at all, is because of the brave men and women who are fighting for our country. I believe that because our country has not reinstated the draft, (all of the service members are volunteers), they aren't there because they have to be, they are there because they want to protect the citizens of this great country.
Just something to think about......

WMDs existed before the invasion, and they were found in small quantities. Specifically, sarin and mustard gas among others.

Saddam was not so stupid as to leave a large quantity of WMDs to be found. They were either sold, destroyed, or remain hidden.

Bush did not make up the WMD thing no more so than Bill Clinton did. Both men believed that Iraq had WMD. So if George made it up so did Bill.

My personal opinion is that the WMD were in fact there. But Saddam is sly and foxy. We gave him 9 months notice we were coming. He had plenty of time to get them out. If I told you that I am coming to your house to get your weapons and I waited 9 months to come get them What are my chances of finding anything given 9 months for you to remove them?

Sir would you please examine the above and think about it. If Bill Clinton.....who is no war hawk.....believed there were WMD in Iraq and George Bush believed there were WMD in Iraq is it not likely they were in fact there and the we inadvertantly gave Saddam all the time in the world to remove them.

Think about it sir. If the were removed then they are even more dangerous than ever because no one knows where they are and that gives the bad guys a leg up on us.

Finally, Sir please think carefully on this thought. Do you not realize the Terrorist/Islamic Fascist have you and your family in their cross hairs with all the rest of us. If Saddam sent WMD to someone who gave/gives them to Al Qaeda will Al Qaeda exempt your city from destruction? An if they do target your city do you really believe they will grant you and your family an exemption from annililation?

What will it take to get America to wake up and smell the coffee? If you value you life and your family's life you should reexamine these matters because you are targeted just like the rest of us.

Oh Yeah. Like I'd trust anything that came out of CNN. You have to be kidding. The most liberal left tilted broadcasting network this side of Air America. If they said Good Morning I'd have to look to see if the Sun came up.

I think the CIA and British MI7 and Russian Intelligence all assumed they were their. If Bush was lying, then so was Tony Blair, Putin, and even France. Prior to the Iraqi invasion theri was a "wagontrain" into Syria, what they were carrying would be ncie to know. One fact cannot be denied, Hussain was a murdeing thug who killed and estimated 300,000 to 1,000,000 peoole.
