I have read Dr Shettles book, but just wanting to know if anyone has heard any tips that work - ie. foods, or any old wives tales. Obviously we are going to be happy what ever the sex be as long as he / she is healthy, but a little girl would be a bonus!

Right here hun! Let me tell you my story! ITS ALL ABOUT TIMING TRUST ME! I have 2 boys, and have a baby girl. Well, with the first 2 boys we were having sex right around ovulation, like every day, and we got our boys. HOWEVER, with our baby girl, we had sex on a Wed. and I ovulated on that Friday evening, I swear, when I took that pregnancy test I knew right away it would be a girl! Trust me on this, it WILL WORK, you just have to get the timing thing down, know when your going to ovulate, make sure you have sex 2-3 days before, BUT NOT THE DAY BEFORE, thats where you will get that boy. Its not what you eat, its about that timing, and its true what thaey say "Boy sperm swim faster, but they die off quicker." Look at it this way, what do you have to lose by trying? I have to tell you that having a girl is absolutely wonderful! Its a whole different world, and I love it!!! So refreshing and shopping is a blast! So, do what I did, SEX 2-3 DAYS BEFORE OVULATION, and you should get that girl:) Good luck to you hun and I'm sending lots and lots of pink baby dust you way!!!!

I haven't heard of anything that's a sure fire way - but if you're really fertile, this is what makes sense to me. Your egg lives for 3-5 days. Sperm live for around 3. Male sperm swim faster, Female sperm live longer. My advice, is track your cycle VERY closely. Have sex up until 2 days before you ovulate. That way most of the male sperm have already died, you'll still have female sperm in there when you ovulate - just a thought, and I didn't hear it anywhere. That's what makes sense to me.
Apparently more people had the same idea - LOL

When we wanted to try for a boy, I read Dr Shettles book and followed the suggestions exactly. I got pregnant the first night we tried and we had our boy! So I suggest you read back over the book and follow it. It worked for us after having three girls.

I have heard that if you try to conceive at the very end of your ovulation cycle you are more likely to have a girl. I tried this and it worked (could be coincidence!) I guess the theory is that the sperm that determine boys swim faster and die sooner before reaching the egg. Or have intercourse a couple of days before you ovulate because some sperm will still be able to survive and fertilize the egg and these sperm will more than likely be the ones that produce girls! It's worth a shot!!! :)

I dont' know what book you're talking about... but I have read in a magazine before that a couple can choose the sex of their baby! I think it had to do with the doctor taking a sample of your husband's semen- then the doctor artificially insemenates you at time of ovulation (with your husbands' stuff of course!) and the correct chromosome, either x or y, and bam~ you get a girl!
Maybe this was something they were talking about now, or in the near future. I don't know if it's available yet, but best of luck to you! :]

To have a girl i think you should make love toward the end of your cycle. Apparently sperm that make boys die off more quickly but they are faster swimmers, sperm that make girls live longer but swim more slowly, you do the math. They also say that because the sperm that make boys are more vulnerable man who are really fit and work out doors in a healthy environment are more likely to have boys. Try getting your husband to wear tight speedos before you have sex, might help kill off the boy sperm.

I have 2 boys and also want a girl, so the internet says to have sex 1 to 2 days before you ovulate and the girl sperm will be all that is left because boy sperm dies faster. Girl sperm suppose to swim slowly but live longer. It also says that acidic enviroments kills girl sperm so it says for the women to not get off and for the man not to penetrate deeply. So that the male sperm will die more quickly

If you've already had 3 boys already, I hear there is a good chance you'll get a girl next. I've know many families where this is the case. Of course I know of one where it wasn't, and they opted to adopt a little girl!

I'm probably going to get reported for writing this, but here goes - My sister and another lady in our church both wanted girls, soooo
My sister's doctor suggested that since the stronger sperm are usually 'boys', then her husband should ejaculate outside of her first, then wait an hour and then have intercourse.
Both ladies followed his directions, and both had girls.
Must be something to the theory!
