The pain deep within my left shoulder is killing me and I can't bend my arm back to touch my bra strap. There's no popping. It especially hurts at night.

The pain may be constant OR intermittent, but it definitely interferes with normal movement. Often you cannot lift your arm above shoulder height, and as you have noted, it affects your ability to reach behind you. The effects are somewhat determined by the size and location of the tear.

I have torn my rotator cuff... it is very painful at times. Sometimes it is sharp pain, and other times dull, but nonetheless constant. My range of motion was negatively affected.

I had to have surgery, and 7 months after that, with physical therapy, I was able to rock climb again
