Here's a thought....

After Mr. Fly is tired out from a day's work of swarming around and eating from trash bins, dog poop and road kill, he buzzes on over to your house and takes a rest on your kitchen counter - right where you make your PB 'n J. He visits various other spots in your house - including your shoulder - before finally landing on your ceiling, where you end his life with a swat and thus disperse his microbe-ridden remains throughout your living room.

Yet as filthy and annoying as the fly is, I'll take the occasional dirty rogue fly over the persistent cockroach infestation any day of the week.

Truth to be told, flies are actually extremely clean creatures, they are often "washing" themselves since their feeding and flying mechanisms etc depends a lot on how effciently their specific body parts are working (i.e. being clean is important)

The reason why most insect are considered dirty is because of their feeding habits. While the cockroach eats pretty much anything they can get their mouth onto, the flies tend to feed on rotting matter (which are easier to digest).

So no matter how clean they are, we always get the impression that they are the nastiest, most disgusting thing around. All because of their feeding habits

Houseflies are worse in terms of carrying disease. Houseflies have really filthy habits. When they land on food to eat, they vomit on the food. This helps start the digestion of the new food; then the fly sucks it back in. This is in addition to the fecal and other matter that may be stuck to its feet. They are known for carrying typhoid, dysentery, and cholera, among other things.
On the other hand, the main health risk from cockroaches is Asthma due to cockroach allergy!
