I think this is a tacky idea, but apparently, Arizona is setting up the idea of a $1,000,000.00 lottery prize to one lucky person who participates in this election.
I personally think it's stupid. The obvious reason is to encourage a larger voting public, but i dont think people would necessarily vote for their favorite. People would vote for ANYONE just for the chance at a million.
I mean, what if Marilyn Manson was a candidate, just as a fluke?
"Ha! Thats funny!", people will say, and the vote goes to him. And with enough people, Marilyn Manson is the Arizona senator!

A - I voted for free yesterday by absentee ballot because of work next Tuesday; if I wasn't already inclined to vote, the chance to win $1 million might make me stop and think about it; if I was already on the fence, it would probably send me to the polls.

B - I think the $1 million jackpot in Arizona will undoubtedly draw in more voters

C - I think it's a bad idea because the people whom it draws in are probably not people who have been paying attention to the campaigns/issues and will vote responsibly. This may just draw in a bunch of lemmings who will vote along party lines because they don't know enough about the candidates to possibly may informed decisions otherwise.

D - I am glad Marilyn Manson is not on the ballot because I agree that there are some idiots out there would vote cast their ballot for the joke candidate.

I vote anyway, but it would be nice to have the possibility of receiving a randomly selected prize.

I think really it is a bad idea, not just for the Marilyn Manson option, but also because people might just push buttons without doing the research.

I really think we are developed enough to reinstate a literacy test, or general knowledge test for voters. Many legal immigrants understand our governmental system better than natives, and all a natural born citizen has to do is be born here and not have a felony conviction.

It would have to be a legitimate literacy test, and not one designed to eliminate a certain population segment, AND YES, IT SHOULD BE IN AMERICAN ENGLISH. ASSIMILATION IS WHAT MADE AMERICA GREAT, NOT BALKANIZED ENCLAVES.

I vote regardless but a chance for one million dollars for what I do normally wouldn't hurt.
