What steps did you take to branch out on your own, no longer needing to work for someone else? Was it difficult and if you had it do over again, would you? Is there a sense of satisfaction and relief in being self sufficient? Any other positives or negatives you'd like to comment on?

Thanks for responding.

Actually my husband and I own 2 business's and are checking out our third. The first was the hardest to get off the ground as we had little to invest. It was tough at first but finally found out the secret ope and opm(other peoples efforts and other peoples money). The second has been a great business investment that we have not had to work as hard at, as investments should be. This new is a need based investment within our community and will generate enough income so that we can retire and let our children run things while we travel. Do it all over again just make a few minor adjustments and we are thoroughly satisfied! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!!

I own my own business (well...a partnership with a friend)

It was fairly easy for us to do as we have a the financial backing from a larger company that we had both worked for, so I wish I could tell you it was hard and we worked our asses off, but we didn't.

The working our asses off comes NOW, as we have to continue to provide quality and yet try to build our sales as much as we can, and yet balance our sales level with whether we need to hire or not...blah blah blah...

There is a definite sense of satisfaction as I know what I do affects me and my wallet, I am no longer working for 15/hr, some days I make less...some days i make much much more, but what I like best is the freedom. If I want to go on holiday, as long as I think it is financially viable, I go. There is no one to ask...no one to stop me.

Hope that helped. Oh...it's a carpet cleaning business...we are 3 months old, annual sales of around $200,000.00.

I am a professional musician and gambler. You just do what you want to do, do it well, and don't forget to charge enough money for it.
