It is a dream that pops up from time to time with me. I practice my punching all the time and am quite good and efficient at it, but i guess the dream shows an underlying fear of being unable to protect myself.

Yes, I used to have that one a lot years ago. Usually when I was depressed and feeling very angry and misunderstood. Sometimes it went along with the dreams of not being able to scream. One night, I had a dream that I attacked someone with a fork and it worked! I was able to stab them in the thigh. Since then, most of my violent dreams involve me using some sort of weapon. The weapons work but punching or kicking usually doesn't. I agree that it must have something to do with self doubt. I must feel I can't do things on my own and that I need help from something/someone.

When I was a young teen I repeatedly dreamed I was trying to punch my mother but my arm was frozen in place and I couldn't make my arm follow through with the punch. She wasn't much of a mother and it was a painful time. Even today there is no talking to her unless its about the weather. There was ans is no getting through to her!

I hope you are able to work through your issues that cause the dream to repeat itself. It will keep doing so until you are able to resolve whatever it is one way or another. God bless.

Yes, that dream could probably mean you subconsciously want to achieve something in life and helpless conscience just happens and that is why your punches don't do anything. It reflects your daily life that you are out of or losing control
