the Belgium coast there you can find a mix of nature and the possibility to do some shopping . Also if you are a lover of history near Oostende there's a part of the Atlantic wall restored
There also some nice city's in the rest of the country like Leuven, brugge, gent , luik, etc. all have a very nice mix of history and modern style buildings
Dunkirk is not in Belgium it's in France .

Luxembourg City is great - only an hour or so away from Brussels. There's a mixture of newer, artsy things and ancient buildings with loads of history. Plus, Luxembourg City has one of the most beautiful balconies in Europe.
You could also check out Tongren in Belgium - they have a flea/antiques market that fills up several city blocks every Sunday morning. It's really cool to look at all the antiques, even if you don't buy anything. Plus, there's a really good pastry shop close to the market where you can get genuine Belgian waffles. Try the cherry waffle - it's my personal favorite.

in case you want a good spot in Scotland, go first to Edinburgh in case you haven't been there (between the most pleasing cities in Europe), and then head as a lot because the Orkney Islands- that is remarkable. The staggering volume of prehistoric ruins and viking internet sites are marvelous, and the North Atlantic surroundings is besides. it really is a paranormal position- I spent a year backpacking by 18 countries in 2007, and Orkney became absolutely one of my very good places... For Belgium, head to Brugges and then take a excursion of the international warfare One points of interest- very transferring. Ghent is efficacious besides. London is expensive... yet there's a lot to confirm, and the museums are loose! Holland has a lot to furnish- partying in case you want it, yet staggering museums and pleasing small cities like Leiden or Utrecht. Why not seem into Croatia or the Italian Riviera? (Cinque Terra). Italy and Croatia are nonetheless quite good fee, as is Portugal. large climate also. EDIT*- I trust the answerer decrease than me- i appreciate the East, and that is lower priced. in certain, i love Slovenia; Ljubljana (beautiful city), Lake Bled, Piran, Ptuj, and so on- I spent 4 months there in 07-08. Czech is likewise large- Ceske Krumlov! I agree about smaller places- the soul of Europe is outdoors her huge cities.

good heavens, two answers and both telling you to go to another country. Belgium, the best place? well if you like chocolate and coffee go to Brugges .. if you like history and architecture go to Brussels .. if you want modern history and an upbeat look at nature try Dunkirk (it's spelt Dunquerqe - in Flemish) it's also the site of the great WW2 evacuation of Allied troops - you will find most Belgians speak English and are very friendly and helpful .. of course it was one of my favourite holiday resorts so I could be biased .. I now live in Australia
