Beacuse they want u to remember it so when it is brought up again somewhere down the line u won't have to worry about not knowing about it when u actully do it like your brain is like a time line or interstate once u remember it or learn about u keep it with u forever and u can think back to when and where and answer questions concerning what ever u learned or was taught.

That's what schools are all about. Remembering useless facts for a short time only to regurgitate it back for a test. This system of "learning" is such a failure. Albert Einstein said about modern schools, “It is little short of a miracle that modern methods of instruction have not already completely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry…. I believe that one could even deprive a healthy beast of prey of its voraciousness if one could force it with a whip to eat continuously whether it were hungry or not…”

Actually it is not just for you to learn and remember the material you are reporting on but mainly to teach you how to find the information you need and properly convey it to others. It is actually a valuable learning tool. It will help you in the future. It isn't a waste...just a pain.

repetition is the best way to remember things. just think, you may not remember a conversation you had 2 days ago, or an historic event, but after watching your favorite movie repeatedly, you can quote it word for word. same thing with learning
