I own it, have had it for quite some time and will tell you how I felt about it. This psycho / revenge appears cheap and tame by todays standards, however it is crudely made for a reason. Hope you have the unedited edition and not the chopped one, there are 2 copies floating around that claim they're the real thing. The combination of sadistic horror, generational conflict and dumb comedy is still strong. It's about taking refuge in the wrong place. Comparing it to I spit on your grave is a bit mild ( I own that one too. ) but if you do decide to view it, it's up to you how you wish to approach the film or if you have pre-conditioned ideas beforehand because of what you hear or read from others, including me. I personally think the film would be more effective if they took out the goofy deputy, but that's just me. I'd watch it and see how you feel afterwords.

I remember that I went to the movies as a teen and saw it, didn't really remember the details, just that back then I was terrified. Things have changed alot now though, it takes alot more to scare people. After reading one of the answers though, i can't recall it being about that, but I'm sure it was..i guess i haven't answered your question have i. All i can say is if it scared me back in the 70s it probably won't be scary anymore, sounds brutal though!

no its not an easy movie to sit thru because it is mean spirited. on the same lines as I spit on your grave. it is ugly and left me feeling uncomfortable. I love horror movies but this is a horror. its a get even movie that is played all too real. no with all the other choices I wouldnt watch it again. the others you mentioned are more entertaining and less sleazy.

Send it back. It's not really a "horror" movie like you're thinking. It's about girls who get kidnapped, raped, and then killed. It's quite disturbing. The ending is the only cool part about it, when her parents find out who the killers are and then kill them. Not worth it, send it back.

That's up to you. If you are in the mood to watch a movie like that, then I say, start popping the popcorn and go for it! If you think that you won't like it, then I say, send it back!

I assumed it would be great because, hey, it's Wes Craven. But I was really disappointed with it. It wasn't anywhere near brutal. I borrowed it from my next-door neighbor who gave it rave reviews, but I found it boring.

I think it's a terrible film but since you got it you may as well watch. You might like it. Some consider it a cult classic. I think it's a turkey.
