I would say linger. I still dream about one of my dogs that died in 1998.

A pet dying is something you have a right to feel sad about.

Oddly enough, i tend to linger on little things that really dont matter that much, like somebody being rude to me in the street for no reason.
A death in the family or something, I just cope the best I can day to day.

Linger. I doubt anyone with any emotional depth would only feel sad for an hour at the loss of a pet.

I tend to linger, but it matters how long depending on how close I was to the animal. For example, when my 12 year old dog died, I lingered in it for well over a year. When my fish die, however, I flush 'em and get over it, unless it wasone i'd really gotten close to...like I would probably linger a little longer over my betta than a guppy fry;) It also depends for me whether it was sudden or if I knew it was coming. Sudden deaths are hardest for me to cope with.

I don't linger for a huge amount of time...I think about it for an hour or so and forget for a while, but it comes back to me a lot. I still miss my guinea pig that we had to give away because he was sick. I think about all the sweet little things he used to do, but I don't dwell on it. As for other things, I probably linger a little longer....but it mostly always comes back to me.

I linger. When my cat died I cried everytime I came home and he wasnt there for a month!

If my baby (my LH Dachshund) were to die, you may as well keep me off the schedule at work for at least 2 weeks! The crying periodically would last me probably 6 months. I love that dog more than anyone could love an animal ever!

Linger. Any pet we have is a part of the family.

Pets are like family. They become a big part of your life for so long, and when they die it is hard. My dad had a dog who was very special to him. It was very hard for us to let him go. We still get a little choked up when we talk about him, and he died over 4 years ago. It is normal to feel sad about a pet dying. It takes time to get over things like that.
