I believe the missing letter is H. Is this correct?

How do I come to this conclusion?

I assigned each letter in the alphabet a number 1-26 in sequential order. I added up the three numbers for each set. They were as follows:

20
22
24
26
28

Each group increases by 2. This would mean the group with the missing letter should be 30. M = 13 and I = 9, that gives you 22. The letter that = 8 is H. That would give you a total of 30.

Let the letters be their position in the alphabet:
A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, etc.

BGK = 2 + 7 + 11 = 20
OFA = 15 + 6 + 1 = 22
HIG = 8 + 9 + 7 = 24
OCH = 15 + 3 + 8 = 26
FQE = 6 + 17 + 5 = 28
MI? = 13 + 9 + ? = 30

So the question mark (?) must be 8, which is equivalent to H

The answer is H.

Edit: Spent too long writing a nice explanation...
