Wrong. In the play the chandelier falls at end of the first act during Christine's performance.

I have seen the show many times, and the movie many times. It depends on what production you've seen, and it can get really confusing trying to remember where it happens, particularly because the big climax is not the last image you see on stage:

In most productions, (Broadway, most original tours, and probably London, although I've never seen that one.) it falls after Raoul and Christine and Phantom are on the roof, and Phantom sings "You will curse the day you did not do, everything the Phantom asked of you!" - Directly before intermission. At this point, we return to the stage of the Opera Populaire and the main curtain closes on the rooftop scene. The cast of "Il Muto" returns to the front of the stage to take their bows during their curtain call and the Chandelier crashes down upon them, and the lights come up for intermission. This is the reason you remember it during "cast taking bows", because it was during the supposed curtain call of the performance of Il Muto, after Christine took over the role from Carlotta.

Many people get confused when trying to remember this part, because they remember the Chandelier crashes down at the end of the rooftop scene, because by the time that the cast of Il Muto is out on stage taking bows everyone is watching the Chandelier and don't notice that we've left the rooftop. I know this was a point of confusion with me, because I very specifically remember the Chandelier falling on the cast of Il Muto, but I know that the intermission is directly after "You will curse the day you did not do...."

The very first time I saw a national tour, for some reason (maybe editing for running time?) they completely deleted Joseph Bouquet being hung during Il Muto, and replaced it with the Chandelier crashing down on the ballet. Less climactic if you ask me.

In the Las Vegas Spectacular and the Film, the Chandelier falls during the climax of Don Juan Triumphant.

In the 25th anniversary celebration, it doesn't fall, but Christine gazes up in horror as it explodes with pyrotechnics.

OMG! I love the Phantom of The Opera!!Well, The chandelier falls at the begining because it is a flashback, well, the chandelier falls up but, at the end the chandelier drops because the phantom gets mad a Rauol Because, the Phantom love Christine, and Phantom doesn't like the fact that christine loves Rauol. So he gets mad, and they have that 12 minute song and he gets mad andcuts the line for the chandelier. thats it! Let me know if you need more info. I am 13 seen the movie 300000000 times and the play 3 times!

It initially dropped correct after the Phantom sings the All I Ask of You reprise contained in the angel on the rooftop Thats even as it drops in all of Andrew Lloyd Webber's productions of POTO, except for the Las Vegas remarkable.

In the movie it is during Don Juan, in the stage play it is during Il Muto (after All I Ask of You) right before intermission.

Way to go and ruin the ending for me! The least you could do is pick me for best answer and let me have the ten points. Lord knows I need them!

I'm just kidding, well not really, I would really like the ten points and it would make my day and you would get points too, but don't fell obligated to do it!
