This is not an unusual combination. I know many Indian girls married to white Englishmen and they are very happy. I have no idea why you are getting this flak from people. Most of the time the girls marry Englishmen because they have more respect from their own menfolk and are allowed to lead normal healthy lives whereas the Indian male is more dominant and will not allow his wife to do certain things. I am sure you have heard of Anglo Indians? They are Indians with mixed parentage .....a result of the time when the British occupied India. Love is love and has no boundaries. It does not see colour. It does not see disabilities. It is pure. The children of such unions are usually very intelligent and very handsome. Inbreeeding is not a good idea and often produces defects. Why do you worry about what others think? If they don't like your union drop them like a hot brick and stay with people like minded as yourself Once you are married will you be meeting those people? I don't think so. I think you will be involved with each other so much you won't care what is going on around you. Enjoy your love for each other that is the most important thing in life and you can face anything and everything.

Oh, my friend, I really understand what you are talking about. I am Japanese form Japan, so I am Oriental. My Portuguese boyfriend has African origin, and he is a black dude drew up in Angola. People get pretty shocked when they find out.
Well, neither yours or mine are very common combination yet, you know. So people just find it unusual, so they give that looks. I think they don't mean to offend you or me. At least I hope.
But anyway, as long as you guys are happy together, that's all what matters, right? That's how I take it anyway.
No one has ever come to me or to my boyfriend telling that what we are doing is wrong, and we should go out with someone with the same back ground. But if anyone has guts to do so, I'll smack them so hard that they'll land in the moon.

Englishmen mostly sailors during the 1700s used to marry Indian girls and settle there and that wasnt a problem then,a lot of people dont realize this, that was way before the infamous empire days..Tell them that its not new.
I saw this interesting gentleman blond and blue eyes .His parents were from England,Like a lot of people like him were born and schooled in India.
He had an Indian accent and could speak it as if being indigenous to the country

ah the old "so what if she's a different colour from me" question. unfortunately we still seem to have a hangover from our old colonial days when we decided (god knows why) that we were far superior to the natives of the countries we invaded (sorry, educated).personally if you are both happy then that should be the only thing that matters. regrettably, however there are some people who are unable to see past the colour of a particular colour of skin.unfortunately this is not just a british problem, it is pandemic and some people you can never educate

A lot of people still can't get out of the old-fashioned views of being 'with your own kind'. You are both British, and have every right to do what you like in this country (within the laws of the land of course). Good luck to you both, and you'll have beautiful children with your mixture of colourings. May the rest of the world catch up with our views of what's acceptable soon.

Some people are still ignorant and closed minded when it comes to that. If you both are happy, then that is all that matters. Ignore the rest and enjoy your life with your girl.

Good for you and your girlfriend! I went through the same thing--I am white and my husband is Hispanic (Central America). We've gotten some comments from people, and I know it's just ignorance on their behalf. Just don't pay them any attention. If you don't let their comments get to you, you will be a much happier person.
