They shouldn't.
It allows them too much freedom to commit new crimes and to follow their victims.
They're suppossed to be being punished, right?

They should not! They have too much already! Especially the hardened criminals. Have them break rocks and shovel coal all day ...They will be good and tired and sleep it off. Then after 20 or so years we can reevaluate them to see if they are worthy of
lesser manual work, but only a bit. And same to the white color guys like the Enron and WorldCom crowd. Make them eat dirt until they die! All those people taken advantage of could never be repaid! AND is KEN LAY really dead????? I need to see the body!

It really burns my butt! That's not the only "luxury" they get! A lot of Federal Prisons have exercise rooms and cable TV! Did you know that a lot of mail order catalogs use inmates to take phone orders!? These criminals get PAID to take your home address and phone number AND your credit card number.

#2 prison is supposed to be about reform.. not housing and not just punishment.. if they don't come out better than when they came in then what was the point? we should be trying to make people productive members of society rather than housing them in a hell hole that makes them worse.. i'm not saying this applies to all inmates... those in there for life and those beyond reform have no reason to be a drain on that system.. but those who are to be returned to society should leave with more education and better job skills than when they went in.. it would make them less likely to repeat their offenses.
#3 do you really want a lot of pissed off people sitting around all day with no distractions? you'd have pure chaos before you knew it.. you have to give people something they enjoy that can be taken away, so that they fear losing it.. it sounds kind of brutal.. but it helps the prison guards keep control.. it gives them an edge.

They shouldn't, most of those scumbags should be killed rather than get to live another day. The death penalty should be in every state for rapists, and murderers, and child molesters should be killed slow.
