your off to a good track with your volunteer activities. try to improve your gpa, take the act/sat, and take on more leadership position roles. go and ask your school counselor, she/he can give you advice. good luck.

Keep up the good grades. You've got a couple of years left to improve them. Write a great college entrance essay explaining why you decided to put more work into school and turn your grades around. You can probably get into your local state schools just fine if you manage to pull your grades up, and many state schools have great reputations. Otherwise, tough it out at community college for two years and show them you have what it takes to be a college student - and transfer. A lot of students are doing that these days.

It depends on what you mean by a "good" school. For example, I go to Eastern Michigan University, which has an average ACT score of 23 or so and it is a breeze to get into, but is one of the best schools in the country for education. On the other hand, you are quite simply not going to get into a Yale or Harvard. If you can't get into your school of choice, always have a backup school. Even better, go to a community college for a year and boost your GPA while meeting general education requirements, then transfer to a better school after they see improvment in grades.

When it comes to the real life and finding a job, it doesn't matter what college you go to. Education is education. All that matters is that you get that degree and EXPERIENCE. Nobody cares what college you go to unless you are a part of the elite.

Forget getting caught up into "good college" and worry about improving your grades and finding what you want to do with your life. With your GPA, you'll probably end up at a community college and transfer to a university later.

Talk to your school counselor. They will guide you in the right direction.

Definitely work on your grade point average.
