Oddly enough, the CPU is almost always the last thing I upgrade in a computer. It's expensive, a pain in the butt, and usually doesn't have a huge impact.
The difference between a 1.67 GHz semperon and a 2.0 GHz semperon probably won't be very visible.
Make sure you have at least 1 gig of ram, and a decently fast hard drive first.

Well your going to get a mild speed increase of 330MHz. Not really much to write home about to be honest. Yes, 2GHz is faster but not much.
I upgraded from a 1.3GHz Athlon to a 1.8GHz AthlonXP a while back - A difference of 500MHz. I just about noticed a small difference.
My advice would be to increase your ram first (so the system spends less time moving data to and from the HD) and then think about a faster processor than 2GHz if you really want to notice a speed difference.

Yes but not really that big of one. It takes a lot of work to upgrade a processor, you better know what you are doing! If you are going to have to take it in to some place to get it done then I wouldn't worry about it.

The upgrade would hardly make a difference worth the trouble.

yes it would improve.... it also depends on what application are you running... most of the time the processor is idle... the memory is always the one being accessed... but surely it would have a significant change in performance for your pc....
