Why are they so critical NOW? Is it because it's the other side talking like a fool for a change, and they incapable of applying equal standards to representatives of both parties?

Troops were angry at the notorious "bring it on" comment -- as if they didn't have their hands full as it was.

And "Stay the course" is clearly a euphemism for "We don't have a clue what we're doing, the war's still making Rumsfeld and Cheney a bundle, so let's make them stick around a while longer and die, like chumps."

"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." G.W. Bush

I'll be the first to admit that the C in C is NOT an eloquent public speaker. But I also don't believe that Kerry "botched a joke". He has stated too many times, in too many places, in too many ways that he dislikes the military. He is no different from many Liberal Democrats in this respect. That is the difference.

Bush has never said anything quite so ill-advised. Kerry made a major slip-up that came across as insulting the men and women who have their lives on the line everyday.

Now, I'm a conservative, and I think that Kerry was talking about Bush, not the military. However, what I think and what he said aren't necessarily congruent. On such a hot issue, he should've been careful about what he said.

He was right to apologize for it.

Bush has better spin whores (Rove & Hughes) so they can take Kerry's insult aimed at Bush and redirect it at the troops.

the republicans.. even when they haven't had the majority.. have always gone up in flames when a democrat steps out of line.. but have always covered their own *** pretty well... it's one of the things that make them great politicians.. they are masters of manipulation and distraction (this is directed towards the politicians, not the voters).. As for Bush.. he's said so many stupid things that we have been desensitized to them.

Because it's election time. If Kerry said what he did in March we probably wouldn't even know about it.

So what was the joke supposed to be, anyway? And what's funny about the war in Iraq?

Hey beachbum, I doubt it. Hmm, the army creates new technologies, created the internet, nuclear weapons, is on the brink of creating invisibility... your right, they do sound stupid.

Grow up, and get off the CNN

Yes, Bush has said stupid things. But at least when HE says stupid things, they can't be interpreted as being against the troops.
