Your body will tell you when it is time to sleep on your side. I'm a stomach sleeper also. The truth is, if it's more comfortable for you to sleep on your stomach, go right ahead! It's not going to hurt the baby. There is enough cushioning in there with the womb and amniotic fluid, so your baby won't be squished. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I still sleep somewhat on my tummy (half way on my stomach and side) and I use a pillow between my legs so I don't roll completely on my belly (it's too uncomfortable anymore because my stomach is big). People will tell you it is best to sleep on your left side, which is true...it gives you the best blood flow. If you can, try sleeping that way...but if you can't, there will be no ham to your baby by sleeping on your stomach. And trust me, you will know when you can't sleep on your stomach anymore...your belly won't let you, haha!
Good luck and congratulations! :)

Its funny how little you value sleep until you are pregnant or have kids!
I never really put much thought into sleep positions until i had my two kids. Sleeping on your tummy is ok (IMO) until you get too much of a bump to do it any more. I only slept on my tummy for the first few weeks. Sleeping on your back, esp after the 1st trimester should REALLY be avoided. Thats because you don't want the weight of the baby and your growing abdomin to press upon a major vein called the vena cava. Sleeping on your left side is supposed to be the best for blood flow to the baby, better kidney function to reduce swelling and less pressure on your liver.
Later in my pregnancy I found the most relief by sleeping in a recliner (not reclined all the way). This allowed me to sleep fairly upright with good support under my back and keep the weight pressure off my hips and knees.

By my thrid month I couldn't anymore... I too am a HUGE fan of sleeping on my stomach! But by then, it actually hurt, so I stopped and slept on my side. That left a lot of sleepless nights! Then I had to have a c-section, so I had an even longer time with not being able to sleep on my stomach :( Don't worry- it's all worth it in the end with your precious baby in your arms!

This is my third pregnancy and I have always slept on my stomach until my body does not permit it any more. Therefore, only you could know when it you cannot do it any more. Whether it is harmful to your baby, no it is not. You may confirm this information with your doctor and also do research on it as well. Good Luck... What is recommended is for you to sleep on your left side but not that is a "must"...

You can sleep on your stomach as long as you're comfortable there. When your baby gets big enough for you to not sleep on your stomach comfortably then you'll know. Let your body be your guide, only you know what's comfortable. I can tell you from experience I would catch myself most of the way on my stomach during my third trimester and my girls are fine, so it's whatever works for you. Good luck!

Your baby is protected by the amniotic fluid, so you are unable to "Squish" the baby. If you catch yourself on your stomach, it is not the end of the world, just turn over. Soon enough you won't be able to sleep on your stomach, and the whole situation will be solved. I slept on my stomach until it began to get uncomfortable, which will be different for each woman. BTW, wait until the baby is born, you will be so excited to sleep on your stomach again! That is until your milk comes in!

I'm a stomach sleeper too!!! It's so hard to train yourself to sleep on your side. I try to prop a pillow in front and in back of me. I still sometimes wake up and catch myself on half of my stomach (I can't sleep completely on my stomach because I'm 26 1/2 weeks! When this happens, I just readjust and go back to sleep. I miss sleeping on my stomach so much!!! :(
Good luck!

Don't worry, it won't harm the baby. You can sleep on your stomach as long as you are comfortable doing so.
