which help you secure work (permanent one w/ benefits) for a fee equating to a one month paycheck. One of my friends landed his first career job out of college that way, but he works in a different field and his agency doesn't specialize in any other areas. I belong to various staffing agencies which also do permanent placement but they have not been able to find me a full time job as of yet. Do you know of agencies in the NYC/Westchester County area which aggresively look for permanent jobs for applicants, but for a finder's fee? Can you list them? Thanks. I'm not overly eager to go this route, but my bills are piling up, and the sooner I can get working again, the better. I have both office support and paralegal experience.

Have you tried Lloyd Staffing?

I also want to add that a company that would charge the prospective employee is probably a scam. They usually charge the prospective employer.

There are plenty of agencies where the employers pay to get placements, I would steer clear of any agency that charges a fee to the job seeker. There is just too much room for abuse. In addition, I have hired several hundred people and never have I hired anyone from these type of agencies.

I know someone who was recently laid off due to cut backs on corporate levels. The company with whom he was employed paid an agency to assist him in job seeking, however, it was useless.

Hiring an agency to help you secure employment seems like a desperate move, but I have to wonder if those agents are more eager to help you find a job, considering that they probably do not get paid if you don't get a job.

Ultimately, the best way to find a job is through networking. You should talk to every employed individual that you know. Find out if the company with whom they are employed is hiring. Most companies are eager to consider employee recommendations for job openings for obvious reasons.

If the agency is looking for money from you, find another agency!

Employers use these agencies all the time, and pay the agencies for their service. Usually, the fee is about 20% of the new hire's annual salary. If the agency is looking for money from you, then they're double dipping!

Good luck!

Employment agencies are fine but consider posting your resume online and buying additional services that gets your resume in front of people. Print off copies and take them to companies you are interested in working for, then hand them to the interviewer or HR person.
