I have 2 computers running through a hub but can't get them both on the internet at the same time,only one

they seem 2 knock each other off and I get a warning about conflicting IP addresses??

Because your using a hub.
If you look and see the confilct light on your hub light up.
that means the 2 computers are trying to transmit at the same time.
What happens is they both go into colision recovery mode in which they stop transmitting and then wait and re transmit.

On the Conflicting IP address, they both are getting the same IP from the cable modem, because the cable modem usually only gives you 1 additional IP.
Fix action - you can try to staticly set your IPs for each computer to 1 ip after your cable modem. Or you can walk over to the store and get a wired or wireless router for your network
(a router will fix all your problems)

Change the settings on the router to have it hand out more than just one IP address. Allow it to run DHCP and your problems will be solved.

i think no need to use router in this case , you can only connect the two pc's togother using "home network address" by give for example the first one this ip :192.168.0.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0 , and for the seconed pc : 192.168.0.2 with subnet 255.255.255.0 , thats enough .

after that you go to your internet connection and make it shared in the netowrk .

so the two pc's will use internet in the same time . of course the speed will divide in two pc's

A hub is basically just a splitter. You need a router.

I would think you just need a router. You can get them at computer stores or Staples. They are about $50-60.00
