Barrowman was raised in Joliet, Illinois, and graduated from Joliet West High School in 1985. He is the son of a plant manager of the former Caterpillar Inc. tractor factory in Joliet. While still in high school, he won parts in several musical productions while still a freshman. Between 1983 and 1985 he performed in productions of Hello, Dolly!, Oliver!, Camelot, L'il Abner and Anything Goes. He attended university in San Diego, and returned to the United Kingdom in 1990.
Barrowman has been with his partner, British architect Scott Gill, since 1991. Despite this long-standing relationship, Barrowman told Scotland's The Herald newspaper that he had no plans to marry, saying, "Why would I want a 'marriage' from a belief system that hates me?". However, he and Gill are to become civil partners, but as Barrowman explained when the couple were interviewed by Attitude magazine, they do not want to call this a marriage: "We're just going to sign the civil register. We're not going to have any ceremony because I'm not a supporter of the word marriage for a gay partnership."

Yes John Barrowman is gay....he is as camp as a pink row of tents. Its not just the good looking ones that are gay. Its just that you arent too aware of the less goodlooking or you dont take too much notice of them. Maybe he appears more attractive because he is definately unattainable, we always seem to want what we cant have. There are plenty more fish in the sea that are, and just as good looking, if not better. Happy hunting. :o)

Yes and he doesn't mind people knowing about it,He came out when he was about 21, although he says that from about the age of nine he knew he was different when he found his brothers stash of porn and was more interested in the guys than the girls.He's been with his partner Scott for about fifteen years now and they plan to sign the civil register around about Christmas time.Despite his sexuality he has a huge following of female fans and as one of them I have to say that this does not detract from the fact that he is one of the best looking men I have ever laid eyes on,and I have met him face to face and he's even better looking in the flesh and a thouroughly lovely man.

yes he is gay. i read an article in the sun a few months ago and it said that he was gay. as for why the good-looking celebrity blokes we go for are gay, i have no idea, its just something they feel comfortable with, and yet what a waste, eh?! some of my favourite male celebs are gay, oh well that's life. there are plenty more fish in the sea and of whom are straight, so all's not lost!

Yes he is gay and has a long term partner called Scot and Scot is English they are going to have a civil marriage ceremony soon and they are very much in love I am afraid.
