With all the weird names out there they are less likely to be teased than they were in the past. Once common names like Brad and Janet seem to be the less evident now since Latisha, Koran, and other unusual names are emerging more and more. Who knows we may swing around and have simple names again then again they may get even stranger.

First of all having a different name is to the point now where it is accepted and expected.
It would be really boring to be in a school full of Elizabeth, Thomas, Michael, and Amanda 's....Those names are great but it is the brave mothers and the creative one that mix it up. When I was in school just on my road there were 4 Amandas....and my road was maybe 1/2 mile long.....that sucked....and there was another Amanda just around the corner too.
And having the name Amanda got me made fun of too...try this one....I got it a lot...She's A MAN DUH....ha ha....it was not funny...and that is a really common name.
I have 2 God daughters names Vantasha and Zakkariyah....there isn't another girl with that name in that whole town....probably the whole state....THey are beautiful names...the only concern I had when they were named was....dang I can't spell that how the heck are they gonna learn those names....lol
Have a great night!

I CAN'T AGREE WITH YOUR MORE!!!
There seems to be an unsaid one-upmanship or competition among mothers when naming a baby. Everyone needs to be different....soon we will have all sorts of crazy named people the world with all sorts of bizarre spellings and names like MARY, BETH, SARAH, HENRY, CHARLES will be all the rare and all the rage and DIFFERENT. My sister in law named one daughter Xailia (sound like the flower AZALEA with out the A) pretty name BUT why oh why spell your daughters name with an "X" for heavens sake.??!!Their other daughter is Maiwen -what? May - what? is what I had to ask when she told me the name. All I could say is WTF -not to her of course! Jeez, those poor girls.
There is nothing worse than a name with superfluous "Y's"....
Sometimes people think their name is so unique like ADIAN and now there are ADIANS all over the playground same with OLIVIA. Lovely names, for sure but unique - hardly. Unique sounding- of course. In the last year I have had friend/relative give birth every month of the year. There are two Adians, 3 Olivias and two Madisons (one spelled MadYson) and each mother thought their name was truely unique - the other 3 have yet to be born.
People don't realize they are naming a PERSON, not something that belongs to them.
Then you get all these questions on Y! Questions about "What do you think of these names" and they are ALL horrible weird names spelled as though the parents don't know how to spell themselves. And not to mention the answerers who will go on forever and list all sorts of crazy, weird awful names with all sorts of equally bizarre spellings. I fell bad for those kids!
End of Rant. Thank you for reading.

What is weird or odd today could be common in the future. My kids names were not used much when they were born but are very common names now. They are not named like apple or pilot inspector that is a little cruel. Then again children have been named after flowers, gemstones and months for centuries maybe it is time for fruit and occupations??????

sorry to say, but that sounded like a real ignorant question. what is "weird" to you may not be to others. take into consideration people's culture and heritage and maybe you'll realize there really aren't "weird" names. the abuse that these kids get in school, are most likely from kids whose parents think like you do. i hope you don't teach your kids to make fun of other people's names that aren't jane and john smith.

They don't get picked on in school because now a dys everyone has a unique name. It's those kids with original names that are the sore thumbs now.

My real name is probebly what you would call 'weird'. It allowed me to identify who I am as an individual at school. People always knew who they were talkinging about and no-body ever forgot my name. I did not get picked on any more than any other kid at school. Relax. The world does not have to be so beige. Colour is good!

Kids will get laughed no matter what. Jenny gets teased as much as Dinglefritz!
I have a boys name, and all my school life got made fun of. Now that I am older (waaaaay older) I love my name because it's unique...
One day the kids will love it too... or change it! Hee hee

It depends on the name but I did read somewhere that teachers tend to pay more attention to kids with traditional names and the traditional spellings of those names, like Matthew, James, Olivia, Jessica.

Would it be better to have Tiffany, Jessica, Latoya, and Andrena then 3 Tiffany's and a Jessica?
However many years ago, Robin was a strang name, because there were more names like Mary, Gay, and Ethel. These are strange now.
To me names are like trends, they routate. One minute they are popular then the next they are not. Think of them like bell bottoms.
