I'm not into sci-fi myself, but that seems to be everyone's favorite episode who I know.

It's definitely one of the most popular; the other that generally ties Tribbles for 1st place is City on the Edge of Forever with Joan Collins as Edith Keeler, a pacifist who changed the outcome of WWII when Bones prevented her from getting killed. But the Trouble With Tribbles is just funny, whether you like Sci-Fi or not. My sons HATE Star Trek, but even they liked the Tribbles.

My favorite Star Trek episode from The Original Series is "Plato's Stepchildren"
Platonians use psychokinetic power to toy with the crew.
They meet this Midget and These Platonians use their powers to make Kirk gives him a Horsey ride.
They make Spock do a dance and laugh & cry.
They are forced to sing Maiden Wine to Nurse Chapel & Lt. Uhura.
it's so funny.
The star date is 5784.2

I like that one but it's not my favorite. I think it's popular because of the humor and it's the only one people can remember the full name of.

I like the one where they picked up the hippies and Spock and one of the guys had a jam session. The hippies wanted to be taken to a planet that they thought was Eden, a complete untouched paradise. It turned out to be toxic and the flowers and grass were made from acid and burned their feet.

Then there was the other one I liked where some guy liked to force others to do silly things for his amusement. He made Spock and Kirk dance around and sing the Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee song from Alice in Wonderland

Even for those not really into science fiction that eposide "trouble w. TRIBBLES (not trebbles) seems to be the one they liked. It had more humor than some of the others and had furry little animals.
