If you mean, how can you make a funeral more enjoyable rather then depressing, try being funny. Not in a rude way... let me explain.
My grandmother is a very strong woman and when her sister (my great aunt) died, everyone was in tears. My grandmother stood strong and made comments that put a smile on our faces. She brought up funny moments that happened with my great aunt that reminded us of the pleasent things in life.
She made a sad moment much brighter.

You think of the person that died as being in a better place and not suffering anymore. know that that person is now watching over you and they will be just like a guardian angel. Never think of a funeral as sad and depressing. Talk to other people at the funeral about the good times that you and this person used to have and you will feel the pain turn into laughter.

Have a celebration of the person's life at the funeral. Have some of the deceased tell some humorous stories about them. Play a song that is unexpected like You Can't Always Get What You Want (as in Big Chill) rather than sad bagpipes etc.

Do what you think is comfortable. Dress the way the "dead" person would have seen you on a regular day. Remember all the good times you had with this person. Don't think negitive! Instead of feeling down about it or during the funeral think of something stupid that happened and have a little laugh.
When my Girlfriend died we put on a wake and had a bar and donated all the money to her parents. Had a band and everything it was great!

It's there already---see it???
If you are being serious, then, some suggestions. At the service, have an open mike where people can come up and tell a humorous story or event that involved the person. Afterwards, have a big potluck or luncheon. Photos all over, scrapbooks, whatever you have. Rejoice in the remembering--and invite all of his friends to 'rejoice' with you and share the memories. Life isn't over with death...it is just passing on from here to there!

during funerals it's usually in reality a get together- that is when we see people we haven't seen in years- so after the funeral people get together drink talk and reminisce.
so that is where the fun for funeral is at.

Play "Spirit In the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum and other music that were favourites of the deceased. Offer drinks. Create a collage of funny photos and tell funny stories. Have a "give-away" of little gifts for guests to remember the occasion. Have an un-traditional feast of foods.

first of all you should be sorry that that person died......it is an extremely hard time on everyone and i don't think that they would like it very much because they could take it the wrong way and think that you weren't even sad.....if it's ur funeral then......umm wear a clown suit and request that everyone wears clown suits as well and have them do the hokey-pokey around the casket (hint: it helps if you tell them this is what you want done BEFORE you die)
