These are some of the superstitions my Mum and Gran said would bring/or avoid bad luck:
1. Throw a pinch of salt over the left shoulder if you should spill some.
2.Never walk under ladders (Very unlucky, something might fall on you).
3. Never put shoes on a dining table,
4. Never whistle on a Sunday
5. It is unlucky to open an umbrella in the house
6. Seven years bad luck if you break a mirror
7. See a pin and pick it up and all day you will have good luck

superstition's are a state of mind. they only exist if you want to believe in them.I've walked under plenty of ladders and nothing bad happened. I've spilt an awful lot of salt over the years but i don't bother throwing it over my shoulder.they're basically just a bunch of old wives tales which don't really bear up under any scrutiny. as you can probably tell i am most certainly not superstitious.

I never used to be but I think I've changed my mind. I was in hospital once for asthma and was told I'd only be in the weekend. I was placed in bed number 6 in ward number 6 on level 6 of the hospital. (666)
I was in for almost 4 weeks and was very nearly taken to intensive care to be ventilated as the asthma had made the inside of my lungs swell so much that they had practically closed and air wasn't getting through well enough.

FRIDAY THE 13th !!!
I went to court on Friday the 13th.
I ended up in court 1 and got 3 years.
Down stairs in the holding cells I was put in cell 13.
I was transfered to prison and ended up in hall F cell 13.
I served 13 months of my sentence.
Hey!! that was 13 years ago.
No kidding!!!
Oh by the way I beat up my best mate when I caught him in bed with my 6 year old daughter and my wife.
The kid said " dad they told me to put the light out and be quiet"
But the 13th had it in for me!!!

Only when I watch football. If my team is losing I take off my jersey, or I change the channel in hopes of them rebounding. As if me being an ardent fan is jinxing the game.

I try not to be, but to a certain extent I am. Things I grew up with they now call wives tales,,,, like don't wash clothes on New Years Day,, don't burn on Sunday's,, don't walk under a ladder, don't step on cracks on sidewalks,,, just to name a few.
