You need to look in warm snuggly places. Hamsters are animals that like to feel warm and secure with a nice fluffy bed. For that reason, check your laundry pile on the floor (especially if it's near a heater). Check under your duvet, pillows, clean laundry etc.
Whatever you do, don't put any laundry in the washing machine until you have found your hamster.
Also leave some nuts sprinkled on the floor in each room. Wait for night time and then see which room has the nut shells left on the floor in the morning - This will tell you what room your hamster has been in (and may still be in).
Remember, hamsters CAN CLIMB so don't just limit your search to the places on the floor. Hamsters may be slower than rats/mice and squirrels, but they are still pretty mobile and can climb all sorts of surfaces.
Good luck

I've had good luck several times doing this. Get a bucket and piece of wood or something long & flat. Make a "bridge or plank" with the wood, angle it from the floor to the bucket. Put some of Tickles favorite food in a trail going up into the bucket and a few pieces inside the bucket. Works best when it's nighttime, since they're nocturnal. Hopefully you're pretty sure they're in the room the cage is in(if it hasn't been that long), shut the door and turn out the lights(if you can).
This has worked 4 out of 5 times for me, the one time it didn't work was when he was out for a long time and got into another room climbing on the window screen trying to get out.
Or you could try putting his wheel in the middle of a room, and listen for the squeaking lol :)
Also, I'd recommend getting some of those eye hook clasps/keychain holders to clip on the cage door. I got mine at walmart for about .99 in the auto dept. Or you could cut off the metal piece on a dog leash.

My friend had a hamster named Houdini because he kept escaping. His favorite hangout was under the refrigerator, I guess because it's dark and warm. At any rate, he chewed the feeder hose for the icemaker and caused a flood which ruined the hardwood floors...
Try getting a humane rodent trap (one that doesn't kill them) and bait it with peanut butter.
Good luck, and remember, hamsters can chew through almost anything and fit through any space that's big enough to accommodate their heads (about the size of a nickel).

First you have to figure out which room it's in. Bait each room with a little bit of food in the middle of the floor. Close all the doors, then check periodically to see where the food's going missing. Then you have to narrow down your search - remember, they may have fat little furry butts but they can squeeze themselves into spaces you wouldn't think they can! Gradually close in on the little Houdini - look for anything that's been chewed on, and sniff for the smell of urine. The longer he's out the more damage he'll do - I had one that hid in a closet and chewed his way into my husband's expensive leather briefcase, and chewed up the carpet! Once you zero in on him, move his cage in to where he can get into it - you may have to build a little trap - chances are he'll go back to his cage for some good food and, more importantly, water. Good luck!

one of the best ways is to take one of those plastic pipes(if u have one) and just hold onto the end of it,& place the hole opening near where your hamster is.& then wait,patiently...

From experience, they like the dark. Look behind the sofa, dressers, refrig, any place that you think they can't fit in. Also, wait until night time because they are nocturnal animals.
