Hi I bought a very large exercise ball -Like those balls that hamsters go inside except much bigger- (box has a picture of a ferret and a guinea pig on it.) I have a dwarf rabbit. can a bunny be trained to use the exercise ball? I put her in there once but she just sat there not knowing what to do.
Should I keep putting her in to see if she gets the hang of it or should I try to return it to the pet shop (do they accept exercise balls back)?
Has anyone here got a bunny to use an exercise ball?

Rabbits' backs don't really bend that way, very bad idea.

I don't know about rabbits, but I'm slightly horrified that there was a picture of a guinea pig on the ball unless it really is HUGE - guinea pigs aren't supposed to use exercise balls since their backs aren't meant to bend backwards that way and I would imagine the same sort of thing goes for rabbits as well. How large are you talking? I agree with some of the above comments, I think you'll have better luck and it will be safer for your bunny if you just get an exercise pen or block of a room or area where she can run around.

Very bad idea. rabbits and hamsters are different animals. You could hurt your rabbit by putting it in that thing.
It would be much better to pick a room in your home. Make sure there are no electrical wires the rabbit can chew on and don't leave things laying around that you don't want chewed. The rabbit needs exercise outside of its cage, but you could cause it to fracture something if you put it in one of those balls.

I believe your rabbit doesn't like to use an exercise ball. They were mad for hamsters and Guinea Pigs. Being in the small area may make him uneasy. Rabbits like to run about and explore and had if they get scared. A small toy ball may be a better bet. :)

I don't think this is a very good idea. It sounds more dangerous than anything since rabbits hop. Best bet is to buy an exercise pen. http://www.rabbit.org

they can't use them because they can't hop in them. try an execise pen or if you are short on cash or have the time to spend with it try getting a leash and walk with her around the house.
