Speaks for me, you, and anyone and everyone who believes in the first ten amendments to the Constitution, otherwise known as the Bill of Rights. You don't have to concur with them pressing suit on behalf of the KKK or death row inmates, but you sure as heck better be glad that they are there applying the Bill of Rights in every instance possible, because believe me, if we don't USE the Bill of Rights, we most certainly will LOSE the Bill of Rights.

If you care a hoot about the Bill of Rights, you better believe the ACLU speaks for YOU as well as me.

I speak for myself. The ACLU speaks for those who have no voice. Even if what they are speaking is contrary to their own interests.

Whatever epithets one throws at the ACLU, being hypocrites is not among them.

It is, I think, good to have a social conscience speaking up. Even if sometimes only for the record. Remember this:

"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up."
Martin Niemoeller, German Lutheran Pastor

Absolutely, they are the only organization in this country that truly works for freedom. Too bad there are so many poorly educated ignoramouses that don't understand the concept that freedom is a gaurantee, and if you create exceptions where certain people don't have freedom, then nobody has it.

People are too mentally weak to understand that if they take rights away from an accused rapist or murderer or even terrorist then they have just created a loophole that the government can use to take away anyone's rights! All they have to do is accuse you of that crime, rape, muder, terrorism, which is quite easy, and you lose EVERTYHING that every American soldier has ever died for!

they speak for every American.
they defend our civil rights-not just the civil rights of the "nice" people. I may not like everything they do or every cause they fight but I am glad that SOMEONE understands that what is popular isn't always what is right and what is unpopular isn't always wrong.
the rights given to us in the bill of rights and the constitution are not privileges if you are a US citizen--so many people forget that

I am a member, even though I don't agree with everything they stand for. At least they try to preserve the Bill of Rights.

The ACLU is hellbent on subverting the US Constitution to its own ends. hey should be labeled as subversive and be outlawed.

No. They only speak up when they think they can earn a dollar or drive our country down even more!
