I think that it should be a right. How can we allow illicit things like same-sex marriage, but not okay relationships like polygamous marriage? One popular group that is for same-sex marriage yet againt polygamy is the feminists. I would support polygamy. A man should be allowed to take multiple wives. Also, I am not for same-sex marriage, incest, fornication, or other sexual sins.

jess g, the bible does not tell you to have one wife. The bible aknowleges polygamy in many places. Polygamy was only not advised for clergymen. The Kings were not supposed to hog all of the women, but they were not limited to one wife.

Marriage does not mean one husband and one wife. Marriage is defined as one man and his wife or wives. The Western civilization has traditionally practiced monogamy since the Ancient Greeks. Arab countries such as Jesus lived in have a tradition of polygamy. Polygamy was never called a sin and the bible, and actually, I was accepted as a normal and non-sinful practice. Polygamy might have been discouraged if it involed multiplying a really huge number of women to oneself, or if one was a clergyman, of which monogamous marriage was expected.

The reason why I do not mention women being entitled to more than one husband is because I would not support it. God put Eve under Adam's rule. A woman having more than one husband would be like putting men underneath the rule of women.

You make a very valid argument. I have often said myself "if you redefine marriage to any cohabitive relationship. Why discriminate to only one to one" Once you go beyond the traditional definition of marriage, polygamy has to be considered as legitimate as any other "marriage".

Can the woman have several husbands?? I do not support polygamy. Every documentary has shown that there are some problems with these types of marriage. Wives jealous of each other, manipulating the children, etc. And if they all live together you cannot tell me that it's just a big happy family. In j"regular" marriages that doesn't even happen. Also some say that they don't get divorced. I wouldn't see any need to, a man can just stop sleeping and bothering with the particular woman that he's not interested in any more.

I think that people in polygamous relationships miss out (well the woman, at least). Woman have a lot of emotional needs...how can a man with 5 wives meet all of those needs? To me, polygamy is about a man's ego and sex drive. There is no need for it in today's society...there are enough men for each woman to have her own. I despise men who have the mentality that you have....they are usually chauvinist pigs who don't deserve even ONE woman. I've seen how women in polygamist society's are treated, and it makes me sick. A man shouldn't rule over a clan of women. A marriage between two people provides greater intimacy, satisfaction, and happiness. That's why I would be for same sex civil unions, but never polygamy.

well.. I like the anti incest thing.. What's fornication? (isn't that any type of sexual activity?) hell.. I am celibate (sigh) so I guess I'm for it too (kinda..) I don't know.. I think if it doesn't involve a minor or an unwilling person I don't mind what anyone else does. (Why bother with it?) I must say I cannot judge what YOU want to do.. or anyone else.. if you want polygamy (or someone else) why should it matter what I think.. right? right! I guess you want a poll of who's for/anti polygamy here? lol.. I just want love.. love between consenting partners.. what's wrong with that? It doesn't involve anyone (let us hope not.. it shouldn't in my book) but the 'interested parties..' yeah, that sounds right to me.. (SO I guess that is my stand on it!) peace-n-luv

Same-Sex marriage isnt legal either in a lot of states. This is just pure insanity, I think that marriage is a scared bond between two people and I dont think that three people or more could share that sacred bond. I do think that the choice should be up to you though as well as same-sex marraiges making that legal in all of the states. Incest is just wrong and it should be outlawed because there are birth defects with that, so I agree with the laws on that I dont think that you should have a choice in that case.
People should decide for themselves whats right to them and whats wrong as far as marriage goes anyway. Afterall that is why we have our own choices according to the bible. Whether we decide to do the right or do the wrong. I dont think that the law in marriages should be involved for the most part. So even if they were all illegal its still wrong.

As long as a man treats the women as equals and respects and loves them, takes care of them the way they would take care of him, does not view them as property, and as long as the women involved are open to it, then I do not have a problem with it. I myself prefer to be in a monogamous relationship and will not share my husband.
I do not have a problem with sex before marriage. I do believe that people should take responsibility in doing so such as preventing unwanted pregnancies and diseases.

Marriage means one man and one woman. Anything else is something else.
Why do you say that a man should be entitled to more than one wife (you guys are so full of yourself!) but you don't mention that women should be entitled to more than one husband?

A man considering more than one wife?
He's either a masochist or an egotist! OK, that's a bit harsh but what man is REALLY, REALLY good at keeping ONE wife happy, content, provided for and satisfied on all levels?
