"ambition...but...greed". I've never known ambition and greed to be mutually exclusive. There have been plenty of people who were ambitiously greedy. I've also never known the Devil to be considered an actual historical figure. Napoleon had great ambitions to rule the whole world, but greed wasn't his downfall, the Russian Winter was. William the Conqueror succeeded in his ambition to lay claim to the British Crown, ruled for 21 years and died from injuries sustained after being thrown from his horse. Hitler's greed didn't do him in, but allied industrial output did. I don't about the others off hand, but I don't think John Adams and Oscar Schindler had greed as their primary motivators. I think, if you want to get decent answers to this question, you need to redefine and expand your criteria.

OK the devil is still a part of everyday life. I don't think that Hitler really gave into the greed as he was greedy from the start whether it be for power or money. The rest of them all were ambitious with a touch of greed

A better question would be "Which one has not?"

The old adage "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." is among the truest of all old adages.

This is why the study of history should be banned, because if you know what has happened, you'll figure out what's happening, and no one will be able to control you with their dogma.

Misinformation is the true religion of all governments, out of necessity. There are no exceptions. If you don't believe me, you have not studied history deeply.
