We have became recent owners to the Sunterra Resorts and the guy who sold us the package claimed April 15 was the best week to go to Disney. No lines and great weather compared to Ohio. What all do you guys think? When is the best time to take a 4 yr old to Disney?

Honestly, I think that guy was mistaken. Yes, the weather will be nice, but it will be very crowded. According to the Walt Disney World website that time period has a very high attendance. It's "Spring Break." So, not only will it be packed, it will be packed with young adults celebrating and partying (EPCOT and Downtown Disney will probably be ridiculous at that time with people "drinking around the world" at the World Showcase and people partying at Pleasure Island.) This probably won't be the best time to bring a four-year-old.

Take a look at this, from the Walt Disney World website, it says what times of year have the lowest attendance (I'm sure you want to go during the least crowded time because your child's attention span isn't going to last long waiting in long lines.)

" Lowest Attendance: January (except New Year's Day) until just prior to Presidents' week in February
The week following Labor Day until just prior to Thanksgiving week
The week following Thanksgiving until the week prior to Christmas

Moderate Attendance: After Presidents' week in February through early March
Late April through early June (except Memorial Day weekend)
The first part of Thanksgiving week

Highest Attendance: Presidents' week in February
Mid-March through Late April ("Spring Break")
Memorial Day weekend
Mid-June through Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day and weekend
Christmas week through New Year's Day

During regular attendance periods the Theme Parks tend to be the busiest on the following days:
Magic Kingdom® Park: Monday, Thursday, and Saturday
Epcot®: Tuesday and Friday
Disney-MGM Studios: Sunday and Wednesday
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday "

I've been in August a few times and in November. August is obviously much hotter, but both times are fine. November is warm and the crowds aren't horrible, but I like going in the summer because all the attractions are open. Once fall rolls around different attractions begin closing for yearly refurbishments.

Congratulations, hope you enjoy your stays at your Resort!

I have been late April- early May- hot, just a bit humid, but quite crowded. We were there for the week before Mother's day. I don't know if a lot of schools were having break, or school trips, but there seemed to be a lot of people. (well, there is always a lot of people- it IS Disney World!)

I have been in August- TOO hot! TOO crowded!

I have been twice in mid-Sept.- Perfect (sometimes you might get some rain due to a nearby hurricane- as we had in 2005, but this year was perfect! After Labor Day- the kids (most of them anyway, are back in school, lines are short-we never waited more than 15 minutes to get on a ride), weather is still hot, but not as humid!

I am going back the first week of December this year, so I will know about that time of the year soon.

(I really like September the best)

Anytime but Christmas. Don't worry about long lines. Disney World has a good system where you can make "reservations" for certain rides, and skip all the waiting. You go right to the head of the line and go right in.
The summers are hot and sticky, and usually raining. Around April is ok, but then you have to put up with Spring Break. Besides, there are alot of things to do in Orlando besides Disney. About an hour away is the Atlantic, and going west is the Gulf beaches. You will be an hour from Cape Canaveral and NASA, and shell collecting on the beaches. Have fun anytime you come here to Florida....

I live near Disney and have went all times throughout the year. Winter months seem like the best because they are cooler, but in actuality, they are the worst possible times to go! All the northerners come down to get away from the cold and snow, therefore Disney is packed tight with tourists, plus the residents of Florida. I would have to say that April or May are the best times to go. Kids are still in school then plus its not extremely hot. Have fun whenever you go!!!

That is the time of year the teens come from brazil in packs on tour groups and it is really really crowded except for the last week of april. The end of May is Gay days. The best time to go is jan and end of sept. Remember avoid hot summer, school spring break, and any holidays. That is BS about no lines April 15.

Yeah it would seem as though Winter is the best season to go due to the fact that most kids are in school around the world, which means less travel and less visitors. This is good. Shorter lines, means more times you can ride the rides or see the attractions. And you might be able to do it all in one day, if you're a true Disney trooper. :)

For the love of all things holy dont go in the summer. And i dont know why he said april 15th, thats spring break for hundreds of thousands of people. bad idea. i find october til thanksgiving, and after new years until right before spring break to be the best weather, crowds, and prices. But this is for disneyworld in florida, i havnt been to disney land, may be different.

I went there in 2001. We went after thanksgiving. The taxi driver told us that the best time to go was between Thanksgiving and before Christmas. Crowds are down, so there are rooms available and some deals. Yes, it is cold. He actually said that that was a plus because that keeps the mosquito population way down (the water freezes).

I would have to agree: sometime between February and April. Its between the holidays and has fair weather (at least out here in California). To ensure shorter lines, go during weekdays.

Hope you and yours have a great vacation!
